It's normal for people to think that, i mean they have proven that they are eligible for being an officer is some sort a hardwork been paid off. Then going as a sergeant is like you're almost there, but just didn't make it.
Being a sergeant is not a bad thing, as they will be the closest to the section or platoon compared to officers. Because they "contact" them first before the officers. Officers are usually more to behind the scenes because of all the planning and risk assessments before, during and after every activity. So being a sergeant is like a role model for others.
So be scs or ocs, just do your best and whatever rank you have, you can still be a leader. You don't need a rank to say you're a leader, you need to prove it. Even a private can be better leader than a lieutenant.
